Blogmas 2016 - Day 7 - Christmas DIYs!

Blogmas 2016!

Hello Everyone,

Christmas is the perfect time to get crafty so today I thought I would give you some DIY ideas of my own as well as giving you some links to YouTube videos which also have some really fun DIY ideas. I hope you like this post!

1. Wrapping Paper

You will need:
  • A black felt tip or sharpie
  • Brown wrapping paper
  • Ribbon
This DIY is really simple but so fun if you want a way to get creative at Christmas. All you need to do is buy some brown paper/ wrapping paper and then you can personalise it using the black pen. You could write Merry Christmas across it, draw a pattern or write a message. Add a little bit of ribbon as a little extra if you would like and this looks really effective and shows that you've put a little extra into wrapping people's presents.

2. Paper Chains

You will need:
  • Coloured paper
  • A scissors
  • Glue
  • Stickers
My sister and I used to love doing this when we were younger and we always used to do it in primary school to decorate the classrooms. All you have to do is get the coloured paper and cut it into long strips about an inch thick. Then you need to glue a strip into a circle and then from then on you just link the strips of paper into the previous one making a chain. If yo want to do a little more you could buy some little stickers to put on the strips of paper as well. This is a perfect DIY to do with children.

3. Christmas Cards

You will need:
  • Card
  • Ribbons
  • Stickers
  • Sparkly Pens
I can't exactly tell you how to decorate a card because it depends on personal preference but if you want to make your own Christmas cards this year just get some card, use a sparkly pen to write Merry Christmas on it, stick on a few Christmas stickers and put a bit of ribbon on it to finish it off. Just experiment with what you think looks good. This is a good way to save money on buying Christmas cards and to make giving Christmas cards a personal touch.

Links To Other Good DIY Ideas on YouTube

Now I am just going to link some Christmas DIY idea YouTube videos which I think are good so you can try them as well if you would like to.

So they are just some DIY ideas of my own and then some links to some DIY videos on YouTube that I like. I hope you liked this post. I really enjoyed writing it. Hopefully you will find this helpful if you are looking for ways to get crafty over the festive period. Thanks for reading.

Blogmas 2016 -Day 5 - Christmas Activities For Children!

Blogmas 2016!

Hello Everyone,

Christmas is a really fun time of year especially for children so today I thought I would give any parents that may read this post some ideas of what to do with their children. I hope this post is helpful for some of you. Obviously, these activities aren't just fun for children but this post is centred around things to do with Children at Christmas.

1. Arts & Crafts

Most children love getting creative so Christmas is a perfect time to let them do some DIYs. Keep an eye out for a DIY ideas post coming up on my blog soon.

2. Visit the local Christmas lights.

When I was little I absolutely loved driving around our local town looking at the Christmas lights in the dark. They're so pretty and it really does make the streets look so special. In fact, this is something I still love to do now.

3. Go Christmas Carolling

When I was younger we used to always go carolling around where I lived. This is the perfect way to catch up with friends and get in the Christmas spirit as well as bringing the local community together.

4. Read Christmas Stories

All children enjoy being read to but there is something really special about having a Christmas story read to you in the evening. I used to absolutely love this as a child especially on Christmas Eve.

5. Watch Christmas Films

There is nothing more simple to get you in the Christmas mood that cuddling up on the sofa and watching a Christmas film all together. They never fail to put a smile on my face.

6. Go on a Festive Walk

Wrap up warm with your scarfs, hats and gloves and go on a crisp morning walk all together. I used to love doing this when I was little.

7. Advent Calendars

Most people will buy their children the chocolate advent calendars but if you want to do a bit extra for your children this Christmas you could do a DIY advent calendar where each day they get a different little toy. My parents did this for me when I was little and it was so exciting to find out what you got each day.

8. Baking

I did a lot of baking with family when I was younger and I really enjoyed it so why not try getting your children involved in making some mince pies or cookies. It's fun and at the end of it they get to enjoy a tasty treat.

9. A Christmas Quiz

This is a really good way to entertain your children as well as teaching them some new things about Christmas. You could create your own, get one off the internet or use mine that I did as part of Blogmas last year.

                                                  Questions              Answers

10. Go to a Christmas Fait

This is a fun Christmassy day out where you can look around stalls and buy a few Christmassy bits & bobs to help decorate your house for Christmas.

11. Go to a Pantomime

This was always a tradition for us a Christmas. They're really fun for the whole family not just the children. Why don't you see what Pantomime is on at your local theatre.

12. Give to Charity

Teach your children what is important to think about at Christmas - giving to the less fortunate. A good way to do this is to give some food to a food bank to help people less fortunate than you are.

So they are just some ideas of activities to do with Children around Christmas time. I hope you find these ideas helpful. Thanks for reading!

Blogmas 2016 - Day 1 - The Best Advent Calendars!

Blogmas 2016!

*All images of the advent calendars are taken from the internet*

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to the first day of Blogmas! I can't believe it's been a whole year since I started doing Blogmas for the first time last year. I can't believe we're in December and the countdown to Christmas has began but I couldn't be more excited because Christmas is most definitely my favourite time of the year.

This morning you should have all been able to open the first day on your advent calendars so I thought today I would do a post where I talk about some advent calendars which I either like or would love to try. So, here is my favourite advent calendar and the one's that look amazing.

Chocolate Advent Calendars

1. Cadburys - £2

Every year I have the Cadburys Dairy Milk Chocolate advent calendar. Cadburys chocolate is my favourite chocolate so I love having a little piece everyday. The chocolate in it tastes amazing and the picture on the front is always really cute.

2. Lindor - £5

Another type of chocolate that I really like is Lindor chocolate so I can imagine that this one would also be amazing.

3. Thorntons - £2.50

Thorntons is also really nice chocolate and I know a lot of people love this advent calendar so this is probably also a really good advent calendar to have.

Beauty Advent Calendars

I have never actually tried a beauty advent calendar but there are some that look amazing. However, they are on the more expensive side so you have to be willing to pay a lot more money for an advent calendar.

1. NYX Cosmetics - £60

I love the make up brand NYX so this would be my ideal beauty advent calendar. Inside it contains 12 ecletic soft matte lip creams and mini eyeshadows. I would love to try this advent calendar. It looks amazing.

2. Bomb Cosmetics - £24.99

This advent calendar is perfect for you, if like me you love a bath during winter as it contains mini soaps and bath bombs. This isn't too expensive either for what you get.

3. Tanya Burr 12 Days of Christmas - £24.99

This advent calendar is a bit different because there are only 12 doors to open rather than the usual 24 but it still looks amazing and it's so affordable because it gives you a chance to try 12 of Tanya Burr's beauty products. I would love to try this one.

Other Advent Calendars

1. Playmobil - £25

My sister had this advent calendar when we were younger and it is perfect for children as each day you get a different toy to help create a playmobil scene. This is the ideal advent calendar for children as it's so much fun and the end scene is something they can keep forever if they want to.

2. Yankee Candle - £19.95

If you're a fan of candles then this would be a great advent calendar for you as in this advent calendar you get 24 mini candles of different scents. This is a really affordable way to try loads of different candles and then you can see which are your favourites and purchase bigger versions of them later on.

All of these advent calendars look amazing and I would love to try every single one of them. If you haven't got an advent calendar yet the maybe you could get one of these. I hope you enjoyed this first post in Blogmas. I'll be back tomorrow with another post. Thanks for reading!
