Christmas 2014 - My Favoruite Things About Christmas!

I can't believe that I haven't done any Christmas themed blogs until today. I had planned to do quite a few but for some reason I just haven't had time. However, I couldn't not do any at all so today I am going to tell you about my personal favorite things about Christmas. Christmas is my favorite time of year and I absolutely love it so I have plenty of things I love about the festive season.

So here they are...

My Favourite things about Christmas:

  • In my house we have a real Christmas tree. Therefore, one of my favorite things is choosing the perfect Christmas tree and bringing it home decorate. I think that it is a really special process and we're always really proud of the tree at the end.
  • This brings me nicely on to my next favourite which is the smell of the christmas tree. I just love the smell, it's such a christmassy scent and every time we walk into the house it is a reminder of how close we are to Christmas day.
  • Another Christmas favourite of mine is the advent calendars. In my opinion, you're never too old for an advent calendar. I think that once it is the 1st of December and you have your advent calendar, the countdown to Christmas begins. It's also nice to be able to have a little taster of chocolate every morning.
  • Christmas Songs are another favourite of mine. I have been playing my christmas CD all the way through December. I have the "Now That's What I Call Christmas" CD and I would definitely recommend it because it has all of the best christmas songs on it. My favourite is the "Fairy Tale of New York". If you want to get it click here where you can buy it for £10. It's definitely worth it.
  • Christmas Chocolates - I love that around Christmas time you get to eat so much chocolate. The shops are full of Quality Street, Celebrations, ect. IT's nice to have so many treats.
  • Another thing I love about Christmas time is the duvet days. Days where you stay in your pj's all day watching Christmas films and eating snacks.
  • I love the TV at Christmas because there are so many good films and TV programmes on so you can never get bored. I love looking through the Radio Times and seeing what good things are on TV for each day.
  • I also LOVE buying people presents and then wrapping all of the presents up all pretty. I like to get my friends and family presents that I know they will really like because then I know that they will be pleased when they open them. If I get to see the person open there presents then it's even better because I get to see their reaction.
  • Although there are many more things that I love about Christmas time, I am only going to mention one more. The final thing I love about Christmas, which might actually be my favourite thing overall, is the Christmas Spirit. I think it is lovely that every one is so happy and festive. I also love how close everyone is, how you spend time with the one's you love the most and how there is so much happiness in the world. It seems that at Christmas time everything is forgotten about for a while and everybody just enjoys there day.
This is my favourite time of year. There are so many things I love about it, way too many to write but those are a few of my favourite things about Christmas.

What are your favourite things about Christmas?

Book Review: The Pointless Book!

Today I have decided to do another book review. This time I am reviewing The Pointless Book which is "Started by Alfie Deyes & Finished by You". This book came out a few months ago and as soon as I found out that Alfie was writing a book I knew that I just had to get it. Alfie Deyes A.K.A PointlessBlog has a YouTube Channel and makes weekly videos which I love. i would definitely recommend watching his videos, they are so fun to watch. Click here if you want to go to his YouTube Channel and check out some of his videos. I watch all of PointlessBlog's videos and I also watch his Vlogs on his second channel "PointlessBlogTV" where he documents his life and films parts of his day, everyday which I find really interesting. I found out that he was writing a book on one of his Vlogs and I was so excited and knew that I definitely wanted to get it. When I did finally get it I was not disappointed.

The Pointless Book isn't just your average book. It is a book full of activities for you to complete such as games to play, activities to do with friends and puzzles. Each page gives you a different activity such as Origami, Design a Tattoo, Pressing Flowers and lots more. It's so fun to complete and can keep you entertained for hours. I like to keep it in my handbag so when I go out I can just get it out and do a page of it if I want some entertainment.

I thought I would include the blurb to give you some more information of what the book is about.

"Brought to you by the YouTube Vlogger Alfie Deyes, The Pointless Book is the ultimate addition to his YouTube channel - a weird and funny video-diary of fun, challenges and nothingness: bake a cake in a mug; take part in a people-watching challenge; create a time capsule; diarise a week of you life, and learn to make origami. Fully illustrated and packed with a host of games, activities and pranks, Alfie invites you to join his online following as he challenges you to complete your Journal of Pointlessness and do virtually nothing with pride."

I personally really like this book and I would recommend it to anyone. I think it is the perfect thing to keep you entertained. If you are interested in getting The Pointless Book then click here where you can get it off amazon for just £3.85. If you do decide to get it, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Book Review: The Fault In Our Stars!

Today I thought that I would write a different type of blog post - a book review. I am hoping to do some more of these in the future because I love reading and I would love to give my opinions on some books and suggest any good ones to you.

So, I thought that today I would review The Fault In Our Stars. I read this book during the summer and I absolutely loved it. I would definitely recommend it to anybody who is looking for a book that is interesting and heart warming. It has everything from comedy to romance. I love it when I find a book that once I start I just can't put it down and it was definitely true of TFIOS. It was such a good book to read and it's one that you can read again and again and never get bored of. It has such a good story line and you instantly connect to the characters. I absolutely LOVE it. It's definitely one of the best books I have ever read.

Some More Reviews:
  • Markus Zusak, the best selling author of The Book Thief said "You Laugh, You Cry, And Then You Come Back For More"
  • Time also described it as "Damn Near Genius"
  • One of 200,000 five-star reviewers on GoodReads.com said "I have never, ever read a book that has touched me so deeply"
  • "An achingly beautiful story about life and loss" - School Library Journal, starred review.
I couldn't agree more with these reviews. They describe The Fault In Our Stars perfectly and if these descriptions don't make you want to read it, I don't know what will.

 ***

I'm sure many of you will already know what TFIOS is about but in case any of you don't I thought that i would include the blurb because it describes the book perfectly and will give you a bit of background information on what the book is about.

"The Fault In Our Stars is award-winning author John Green's most ambitious and heartbreaking work yet, brilliantly exploring the funny, thrilling and tragic business of being alive and in love.

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten."

***

I haven't read any of John Green's other books but I would like to, especially if they are all as good as the Fault In Our Stars. I honestly would recommend this book to anyone, it's amazing. If you are interested in getting it, it is available in pretty much any book shop/ supermarket. You can also get it off amazon if you click here, it's available for £3.85 which is a bargain. Go On, Try It. I promise you won't regret it.

My Skin Care Routine!

To be honest I don't do much in terms of skin care. However, the things that I do use works really well so I thought I would suggest them to you. I use the Deep Cleansing Facial Wash and the Mattifying Day Cream from the Body Shop Seaweed collection. It works really well and leaves my face feeling so clean.

The Deep Cleansing Facial Wash is very quick and easy to use. On the packet it says "Refreshing Gell, Removes impurities, make-up and excess oil". I would definitely agree with this, it does exactly what it says on the tin. All you have to do is wet your face and then rub the facial wash on and then you just wash it off with warm water again. It is so quick to use and it works really well. It always leaves my face feeling very clean

I like to use the Mattifying Day Cream after I have used the Facial Wash. Once my skin has dried I put on the Day Cream. It feels really nice and cold and leaves my face feeling very fresh and soft. It moisturises my face really well. On the pot is says "Moisturises dry areas and controls excess shine". I completely agree with this.

I use both of these products at night before I go to bed. I try to do this every night. I would definitely recommend them because they work really well so if you want to have a look click here.

TOP TIP - I find that putting a small amount of Savalon on any spots that I have really helps to get rid of them.

Patisserie Valerie!

A couple of months ago I went to a cafe in Shrewsbury called Patisserie Valerie for lunch with my mum and sister. We had been wanting to go there for a while as it looked very nice so we popped there one day in the summer. We did a bit of shopping in Shrewsbury Town Centre and then walked to Patisserie Valerie which was only a short walk away.

Despite it being lunch time, my sister and I both went for the Full English Breakfast which was so lovely. I had a J2O with it. We both really enjoyed it and I would definitely have it again.

My mum had the soup of the day. Unfortunately I can't remember what it was but I remember her saying that she had really enjoyed her meal too.

I would definitely like to go back to Patisserie Valerie again to have one of their Full English Breakfasts because it was so tasty. I would definitely recommend it if you live near to one. It is a chain of cafes so there might be one near to where you live. If you want to have a look at their website and find out more click here.

Taylor Swift - WonderStruck Perfume!

Taylor Swift - Wonderstruck!

I am quite fussy when it comes to perfumes because I don't really like strong scents. Therefore it's very hard for me to find a perfume that I really like. There are only a few that I actually like and will wear. One of these is the Taylor Swift Wonderstruck Perfume. I absolutely LOVE it. It smells so nice and I wear it everyday.

I also love the packaging, it's so pretty. The bottle is sparkly and purple with a gold top and it comes in a colourful, beautifully patterned box.

I would definitely recommend this perfume to anyone especially if you are like me and you struggle to find a perfume that you like. You can get a 30ml bottle for £19.00 at Superdrug. If you are interested in getting this perfume click here.
